Ingredients

Instructions

  • Mince 6 cloves of garlic and 1 onion (any color). Dice 2 bell peppers.
  • Heat a skillet to medium and add 2 Tbsp. olive oil. Once the oil is heated add the minced garlic and onions. Saute for 2-3 minutes, stirring often.
  • Add the diced peppers and saute for 5-6 minutes, stirring often.
  • Add 2 lbs. ground beef (or ground meat of choice) along with ½ tsp. kosher salt and pepper. Saute for 8-10 minutes or until fully cooked, breaking the meat apart with a spatula. Drain the excess fat from the meat.
  • Add 2 tsp. Italian seasoning to the meat and stir until combined.
  • Add ⅓ cup GF BBQ Sauce, 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, and 1 Tbsp. white wine vinegar (or vinegar of choice) to the skillet and stir until combined.
  • Add 2 Tbsp. corn starch to 1 cup beef broth. Stir the corn starch into the broth completely, creating a slurry. Pour the slurry into the skillet and stir until combined.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow the sauce to thicken a bit.
  • To Serve: Set the oven to 'Broiler'. Place a heaping portion of filling onto a Gluten Free Bun (or regular buns if not gluten free). Repeat with desired amount of sandwiches and place them on a baking sheet.
Place a slice of Provolone or cheese of choice on top of the meat. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Serve once cheese has melted.

Notes

This recipe can be cut in half for a smaller portion.
Ground turkey, chicken, venison, or ground meat of choice may be substituted for ground beef.
